Stacy Thomas, director of Kinkaid's middle school debate program, was recently named the 2013 Texas Speech Communication Association's Middle School Educator of the Year. Ms. Thomas was recognized at the TSCA's annual convention this October.
The TSCA is the professional organization for speech and debate teachers and coaches from throughout the state. Ms. Thomas was nominated for the award by her colleagues in the Houston region last year. Nominees are then evaluated based on a portfolio that is compiled by colleagues containing an instructional philosophy, resume and service record, and letters of recommendation from former students, parents, and fellow teachers.
