Cole Hammer '18 Qualifies for U.S. Open

Cole Hammer, a sophomore member of the Kinkaid boys varsity golf team, officially qualified for the upcoming U.S. Open Championship at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington, June 15-21. This is an official PGA event and one of four tournaments considered a major on the PGA tour: The Masters, The US Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship. In the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier in Dallas, Hammer finished second out of more than 75 golfers, including professionals and former champions. Hammer shot 64 in the morning round and 68 in the afternoon to finish -8 on the day. He birdied 4 of the last 5 holes en route to his second place finish. Hammer's outstanding accomplishment is the lead story on golf.com. Hammer also recently played in a PGA Junior series tournament and won.
