For the past few weeks, a group of fifth graders practiced Fridays after school to prepare for the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl, an online knowledge competition for middle school students. Areas covered include math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general information and fun trivia.
A team of 10 students completed the 100 multiple-choice questions on Friday afternoon, and, with an 89% average, Kinkaid placed 22nd out of 110 fifth grade teams from twenty-five states. Out of the ten fifth grade teams from Texas, Kinkaid placed third.
Not bad for our first try! We're looking forward to building our team next year and participating in more local and national contests.
